Happy National Payroll Week! This entire month we celebrate NPW through volunteering for Money Matters, NPW activity contests, and fun events. Don’t miss Party on the Plaza with the Dallas Chapter APA, students from our Money Matters classes, co-workers and friends. Come at 11am on September 7th, right before our Monthly Education meeting, and celebrate NPW with games and prizes!

School has started for a lot of kids and we are trying to develop our new morning routines. Don’t you just love change?
At the August, monthly educational meeting, we had a lot going on – Job Fair, Book Fair, and learning about Cloud Security.
If you are in the job market, I hope you made contact with that recruiter that will help you land that perfect position. If you were unable to attend the Job Fair, just look around at the next meeting – at least one of them will be there. They can still assist you in finding that perfect position.
I hope you also found that book to complete/add to your payroll library – I know I found 2 that are going to make my life a lot easier.
During the meeting, we asked our attendees several questions and here are the results. (Isn’t it nice to see how we stack up next to other companies in our area?)

Upcoming September classes!
We have 2 open classes remaining for 2017. So, if you have thought about taking a class, this is the time so sign up.
We will be offering a Fast Track for Fundamentals of Payroll in Grand Prairie on September 16th. This is a good review of the content in the Payroll Practice Fundamentals and provides quick tips and study material to prepare for your exam.
Our final scheduled class this year will be a calculations class on September 30th in Grand Prairie. This class covers a variety of calculations ranging from simple to complex.
We would also ask each of you to consider being a volunteer to teach Money Matters during the month of September. This is a very rewarding experience to be able to show high school students just entering the work force about how their check will be calculated. Super thanks to everyone who made our August swim suit drive for the Dallas YMCA’s Safety Around Water program such a huge success. Dallas APA donated over 60 brand new swim suits in all sizes for the YMCA to offer to kids who don’t have their own suits, but who want to learn how to stay safe and have fun at their apartment pools. Most of these suits will be used to get the Safety Around Water program off to a great start in the summer of 2018, so they are prepared and ahead of the game! Great job, DAPA!!
Our October-November-December Community Outreach will focus on Community Partners of Dallas, whose mission is to ensure safety, restore dignity and inspire hope for the abused and neglected children served by Dallas County Child Protective Services. Their Rainbow Room provides emergency resources like clothing, shoes, diapers, and even teddy bears for these kiddos, and their services expand to medical and therapy expenses for victims of sexual abuse and their non-offending family members. We will be asking for your financial contributions in October-November-December to support this worthy outreach.
Party on the Plaza with DAPA for NPW
Dallas APA is going to Party on The Plaza on Friday morning, September 8! This will be our biggest National Payroll Week event of 2017 as we tell the DFW Metroplex about NPW during the broadcast of WFAA ABC Channel 8’s Daybreak television show! APA members and their guests will be at the Plaza by 4:45 and will stay until 7:30, rain or shine. Our loyal sponsor, ADP, is providing T-shirts for us for this event. APA Dallas will also provide hats to represent some of the workers we pay.

Parking: Please use self-parking at the W Hotel Parking, located just west of the studio on Olive St. (see attached map).
Victory Park studio is south of the American Airlines Center and located right in front of the W Hotel in Dallas. Park in the W Hotel self-parking lot on Olive Street.
Some general directions: take I-35 south towards downtown Dallas, you'll pass Motor street and Oak Lawn. Take the Victory Lane exit and head east. Turn left on Olive Street. The W Hotel will be on the right-hand side of the road. The WFAA Victory Park studio will be further down the street to your left. The studio is at the corner of Olive and Houston streets. If you look for the news ticker, we are right below it. Come up onto the plaza and to the side door at the glass window. Knock, and someone will let you in.
